One of the kindest and most humble people you will ever meet in this world is arguably one of the best storytellers in the Philippines - Manix Abrera. A graduate from the University of the Philippines, Manix Abrera is best known for his long running comic strip in the newspaper The Philippine Daily Inquirer - Kikomachine Komix, and his weekly webcomic for GMA News - News Hardcore!
His talent really comes forth with his 2 “silent” graphic novels, “12” and “14.” Both wordless books but will still make you feel all sorts of emotions that even Sandman creator Neil Gaiman had great words for Manix for one of the stories in “12.” Manix has already bagged THREE National Book Awards in the Philippines. He won in 2014 for “14”, "News Hardcore! Hukbong Sandatahan ng Kahaggardan!” in 2015, and for “Kikomachine Komix! XIV: Alaala ng Kinabukasan” in 2018.
Always in pursuit of stories and mysteries which he immortalizes and passes on through his art, Manix considers himself an incessant child of the universe. He’s done several solo exhibits already in the Philippines showing his range apart from his sequential art.
